How it works for guides

Guiding on Rainbow Tour Guides means sharing your city with LGBTQ+ travelers, on your own schedule and at rates you set. Here's the path from applying to getting paid.

1. Apply and build your profile

Sign up as a guide and work through the application, which covers your profile basics, an alignment agreement (affirming your connection to the LGBTQ+ community and agreeing to our code of conduct), your specialties and languages, your rates, your availability, your meeting points, identity verification, and your contact details. You can save your progress and come back to finish it. See Apply to be a guide.

2. Get verified

Our team manually reviews every application, including your identity document, before your profile can go live. This keeps the marketplace trustworthy for travelers and for you. See How guides are verified and Application status and review.

3. Go live in your cities

Once approved, your profile appears publicly in the cities you serve, and travelers can find and request tours with you. See Service cities.

4. Receive and respond to requests

Travelers send you booking requests with a proposed date, duration, and group size. You can accept or decline — there's no penalty for taking time to check your schedule, and requests don't expire while you decide. See Manage availability and booking requests and Accept or decline a request.

5. Get paid, then chat

Once you accept a request, the traveler pays through the platform. Your booking is confirmed once that payment is captured, and that's also when chat with your traveler unlocks so you can coordinate the day. See After a booking is confirmed.

6. Guide the tour

Meet your traveler at the agreed point and lead the private tour you planned together.

7. Get reviewed and get paid

After the tour, you and your traveler can each leave a review. Your earnings — 80% of the base tour price you set — become eligible for payout once the tour is complete and a short hold period has passed. Payouts are manual bank transfers processed in batches.
