Becoming a guide

What you need to become a guide

The basics you need before you apply — identity documents, a city to guide in, and our community standards.

Rainbow Tour Guides connects LGBTQ+ travelers with verified local guides for private tours. Before you apply, here's what you'll need and what we're looking for.

What you'll need

  • A government-issued photo ID. Passport, driver's license, national ID, guide license, electoral card, or a Ministry of Tourism tour guide license all work. It must be current (not expired) and match the legal name you enter on your application.
  • A city you know well. You can list one primary city and add more cities you're able to guide in. There's no fixed list — if your city isn't already on the platform, we'll add it when you apply.
  • A profile photo. A clear, recent photo of your face. You'll add more photos (a cover image and a gallery) once your profile is live.
  • Your own pricing. You set your rates for 4-, 6-, or 8-hour tours in USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, or CAD. You keep 80% of what you set; see Understand tour pricing.
  • A little time. The application has eight short steps and autosaves as you go, so you can finish it in one sitting or come back later.

What we're looking for

  • Genuine local knowledge and enthusiasm for showing your city to LGBTQ+ travelers.
  • A commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, affirming experience for queer travelers.
  • Agreement to our community standards: no hate speech, harassment, discrimination, or illegal conduct, and — importantly — no sexual services of any kind. Rainbow Tour Guides is a tours marketplace, not a dating or hookup platform. See Our guide code of conduct.
  • Willingness to complete manual identity verification. Every guide is checked by a real person before their profile goes live — see Verification documents for guides.
