Discretion and privacy for LGBTQ+ travelers
How the platform is built to keep your booking and identity information private by default.
For travelers and guides1 min readUpdated September 24, 2026
Rainbow Tour Guides is built for private guided tours, not for public browsing or social matching — that distinction shapes how much of your information is ever visible to anyone else.
Your profile isn't browsable
Traveler profiles are never public. Nobody can search for or browse travelers the way you can browse guides — your profile is visible only to you and to a guide you actually have a booking with. There's no public list of who's traveling, who's booked whom, or who's interested in what.
Chat is locked until a booking is real
Messaging with a guide only opens once a booking is paid and confirmed. Before that point, a guide can't message you directly. This isn't just a technical detail — it means you're never exposed to unsolicited contact from someone you haven't actually committed to booking with.
Reviews use your public display name, not your legal name
If you leave a review, it shows under your public display name (a shortened form, like a first name and last initial), never your full legal name. The same is true in reverse for reviews you read from other travelers about a guide.
What our team can see
Support and admin staff can access booking, payment, and message records when needed for safety, disputes, or legal reasons — never for browsing or curiosity. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail on data access.
If you're concerned about being outed or exposed
Because this is a tours marketplace and not a dating or hookup app, there's no feature that broadcasts your presence, interests, or bookings to other users. If you ever feel your privacy has been compromised by a guide or another user, see Report a safety concern — our team treats these reports seriously.
