The Queer Storyteller of New York
Hi! My name is Michael. I'm a native of New York State and have lived in New York City for 10+ years. I initially moved to the city to be a writer but landed in the tourism world. After researching a novel on queer history, I decided to found my own LGBTQ+ walking tour company, Christopher Street Tours. Now, I work as a licensed New York City tour guide, with a speciality in LGBTQ+ history in Greenwich Village.
I also love finding hidden gems around the city, like tucked away bakeries, underground cafes, and nature oases. I'm a big Broadway fan and love seeing different shows on and off-Broadway. In my spare time, I'm usually writing in cafes (still working on the novel!), exploring my own neighborhood of Astoria, and finding top quality eats all around the city.
New York is my favorite city in the whole world, and I want to show you what will bring you joy in my home city! My tours depend on the people I'm welcoming to the city and what they want to see. Some are really interested in parks, others in architecture. Some in famous eateries, others in lesser-known hidden gems. Some want to stay in Times Square, others want to explore the outer boroughs. Regardless of what we see, my tour style is relaxed and fun, like you're visiting a long-time friend in New York City who wants to show you all their favorite spots.
Creating LGBTQ+ inclusive spaces by and for LGBTQ+ people is so essential to the travel experience. It's a great way to connect with other people in the community from all across the world, show them your city, and learn more about their world.
This guide is also happy to meet at your hotel or a custom location.
